McHenry County Unveils Community-Based Mental Health Web Site

MCHENRY COUNTY UNVEILS COMMUNITY-BASED WEB SITE FOR PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS OR SUBSTANCE ABUSE ISSUES, THEIR FAMILIES AND SERVICE PROVIDERS

The McHenry County Mental Health Board (MHB) has recently made public the Network of Care web site that offers breakthrough access of information, communication, and advocacy tools for individuals, families and agencies concerned with mental and emotional wellness. The Network of Care for Behavioral Health is an online information place accessed through a single point of entry and easily navigated from any location with access to the Internet.

Though this powerful resource is available in numerous communities throughout the nation, McHenry County is only the second community in Illinois to make the collection of information on behavioral health and links to services available to their residents through one access point. The Hanover Park Network of Care is the other site already in operation, and the Oak Park Network of Care site will soon be online.

Sandy Lewis, MHB executive director, explains that developing the McHenry County Network of Care web site is part of the initiative funded through a federal SAMHSA agreement to transform the way services are delivered to children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbance and their families. “As part of this initiative, families have identified a need for more information and access to resources to help them understand the issues and ways to make their voices heard,” she said.

“We are happy to announce that this powerful Web based resource is now available to families, individuals, and organizations. We join hundreds of communities across the country through Network of Care, and link service resources, library and news information, legislative updates and helpful tips for youth and families.”  The Web site provides information in several languages, and it also offers opportunities for individuals to store their personal records in secured online space as well to communicate with other individuals in a secure online blog.

The Network of Care Web site can be accesses at www.mchenrycountynetworkofcare.org.

Trilogy Integrated Resources LLC of San Rafael, Calif., created, developed and maintains the Network of Care for Behavioral Health and all of the other Network of Care Web sites, including the Network of Care for Seniors & People with Disabilities; the Network of Care for Kids (ages 0-5); the Network of Care for Children & Families (ages 0-18); the Network of Care for Developmental Disabilities; the Network of Care for Domestic Violence; the Network of Care for Public Health, and the Network of Care for Probation Services.
